Is The Nike Vomero Plus Nike’s Answer to Hoka?

Nike is officially entering the max-cushion chat. As Hoka and On continue to dominate the performance running space with their chunky silhouettes and sub-$200 price points, Nike is responding with the upcoming Vomero Plus. Slated for Fall 2025, this new model doesn’t just compete—it strikes a strong resemblance to other brands’ popular models.

From the beefed-up sculpted foam sole to the layered, wavy mesh upper and visible cushioning, the Vomero Plus strikes a strong resemblance to Hoka’s Skyward X, tapping into what’s been resonating with today’s runners. It fits into Nike’s new three-tiered performance system (Icon, Plus, Premium), offering a max-cushion option at a $170 price point. With bold colorblocking, structural reinforcements, and a sport-meets-style aesthetic, Nike is blending current market trends with its own design DNA in a calculated push to reclaim ground in the performance running category.
